Dear Reader,
Greetings! New Media welcomes you to the inaugural issue of The Karnataka Protector magazine. This issue strives to focus on the various aspects of policing in state of Karnataka. Safety and security of the citizens is of utmost importance, however with the changing face of crime it has become a challenge for the police. The number of policemen in proportion to the growing population is low and hence in the recent times the need for community policing has been felt even more. The security issues have become a matter of grave concern . The article on the” Emergence of Community Policing” discusses in detail how community policing has become vital to our society. The image of police in general as perceived by the public is intimidating. And the root cause is we grow up being petrified of police. The article on “Community policing through children” explains how children could be introduced to police as a friend so that they do not fear them and can confide in them. And eventually grow into adults who are not averse to interacting with the police . A positive opinion towards law enforcers would help the society in being more open towards communicating with them. An article on ” Initiatives of Karnataka police” highlights the measures taken towards the betterment of Karnataka police. Two experts Dr. Rukmini Krishnamurthy and Nisha Menon present their case studies and analysis on the key role played by forensics in crime detection. The feature “The Policeman Our Friend” and another on juvenile crime emphasize on police as a friend . The history of Karnataka police and evolution of uniform in the Karnataka police are informative.
We hope the contents of the magazine are informative and interesting to the readers. We welcome your feedback on the magazine and would be happy to publish any information.

Happy Reading !
