In a yet another crack down, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police have successfully arrested four persons and busted a suspected interstate drug racket. Cops have arrested a model who was the kingpin of the gang along with his three associates.
DCP – ANC Shivdeep Lande, got a clue from confidential sources after the ‘meow-meow’ drug racket was busted at Delhi and drugs worth Rs 50 crore were seized. The tip off was then passed on to Ghatkopar unit of Mumbai Crime Branch for further action.
“As per sources, four men all aged between 25-40 years from different states were to travel in a white Swift car with a plan to meet at Oshiwara via Ghatkopar with highly addictive ‘meow-meow’ drugs in huge quantity,” said an officer from ANC team.
The officials immediately swung into action and found a car halted near Ghatkopar bus depot with two people present in the car. They were later joined by two others. The ANC team laid a trap and intercepted the car on Friday evening.
“On searching the car we found around one kg of drugs hidden under the car seat and over two kg of ‘meow-meow’ drugs stashed by other two people. The car belonged to a resident of Yari Road who is yet to be interrogated. We have arrested the four accused and seized the car as it was used in the crime,” the officer added. The model has been identified as Sunny alias Asif Ansari. The other three accused are Saumil Pathak, Yatin Sanghavi and Dalwinder Singh alias Jaggi. Amongst those arrested, one person is a chemical and pharma agent at Baroda, the other is a mobile phone dealer from Mumbai, and another an Air Conditioner dealer from Punjab.
“During interrogation, the accused confessed that the drugs are to be supplied to some dealer in posh locality of Oshiwara. The consignment was meant for film and TV artists from the field of acting, fashion, makeup and modeling. Investigations are in progress” the officer added.
The ANC on Saturday evening produced the four arrested with the drugs in a court which has sent them in police custody.
