This Holi, lob a water balloon on your friends only if you do not mind spending time behind bars. In an eyebrow raising incident, Koperkhairane police have arrested two youths after a 40-year-old woman registered a case against the duo for hurling water balloons at her and her son.
According to the police, the incident took place at sector 8 of Koperkhairane, when the complainant and her son Mayur Chikne (22) were returning home from market. Navnath Shingate and Tushar Kadse also living in the same neighborhood were waiting in the corner and lobbed water balloons on Mayur and on the complainant as soon as the mother and son duo came close to them.
An argument followed between Mayur, Navnath and Tushar about hurling water balloons at him and his mother when the festival had not even arrived yet. The argument flared into an ugly fight and the accused duo started pelting stones on Mayur and his mother. They suffered grave injuries and had to undergo treatment in a local hospital at Koperkhairane.
According to API Godse, “The duo had allegedly thrown water balloons on the complainant and her son while they were returning home. The complainant approached us stating that two youths residing in the same locality as them had allegedly hurled water balloons on them. The youths attacked them with stones when her son Mayur protested and argued saying that festival has not even arrived yet. We arrested both the accused and booked them under section 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon) and section 34 of Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is going on.”
