A new feather on the cap of Bengal as Kolkata successfully hosted one of the most prestigious events in the world of football. To make the big day memorable special arrangements were made for the FIFA President Gianni Infantino and other foreign delegates.

Public Works Department (PWD) worked round the clock to keep the stadium in the best possible condition. Areas adjoining to the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, also known as the Salt Lake Stadium have been given another face-lift.

The refurbished stadium itself is also as beautiful as any other world class facility.

Nearly, 50 senior engineers were deployed at the stadium since the tournament began to oversee the maintenance work that need to be carried out on regular basis after every match.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday thanked the FIFA and AIFF for giving the state the chance to host the U-17 World Cup Final match. “Today is a historic day for Bengal as well as India. For the first time, the U-17 World Cup football final has been hosted at Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan this evening. My sincere thanks to FIFA and AIFF for giving us the opportunity to host the final match,” Banerjee said in a Facebook post.
