On the ninth Anniversary of the 26 /11 attack in Mumbai that shook the entire nation, as we mourn the death of 167 innocent people and security personnel who lost their lives to this dastardly act, it is time that we resolve to take on these divisive forces that are a constant threat to the peace and security of our lives. The loss due to the attack was colossal and the memories of devastation shall forever remain imprinted on our minds.
My tributes to the families of the injured and those who lost their lives. The efforts of security personnel in combating this attack was creditable. As we recall that day, as responsible citizens we must pledge to make our police force stronger by providing them the due support. A close coordination of police and public is essential to their functioning.

The life and times of Pratap Dighavkar, Additional Commissioner of Police- Thane & East region is awe –inspiring. His journey of living his dream of an IPS officer is a story of grit, determination and relentless pursuit. According to Pravin Dixit, former DGP (Maharashtra), police training should inculcate profiling skills in the policemen to discern and distinguish between members of public with suspicious intentions. Samarth police station, in the Pune jurisdiction has earned the unique title of ‘Model Police Station ‘due to its capabilities in crime detection.
The Mumbai Protector and its web version (www.theprotector.in) have been consistently working towards emphasizing on community policing initiatives through the contents of the magazine. I am sure the contents of the issue would be informative and enriching to the readers as in the past.
