I take pleasure in greeting and congratulating New Media Communication on the occasion of the 8th Anniversary issue of their publication – The Mumbai PROTECTOR, which has worked its way and proved itself to be one of the most effective platforms for connecting cops with the communities.

The Maharashtra Police has been persistent in its efforts to improve its safety and security systems. A systematic change is very apparent and its impact can be felt by the citizens. The Maharashtra Police is one of the finest in the country, and occupies a place of pride, globally. They sweat incessantly so that citizens are safe and are able to perform their jobs with freedom.

Looking back at 26/11 when the terrorists attacked Mumbai, several innocent people, including security personnel, lost their lives. My humble tribute to the people and security personnel who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. The incident will remain etched in our memories.

The Police Department has been vigilant and responsive to any possible threat since then. The progressive changes are apparent, and shall continue. Cybercrime incidents and white collar crimes that are on the rise due to rampant use of technology are posing serious challenges. We need to focus on training our policemen to deal and overcome these challenges.

I recommend, that we encourage community policing and work on our image as ‘Protector’ of communities. I appreciate The Mumbai PROTECTOR forits painstaking efforts in endorsing the idea of community policing and highlighting the brave deeds and achievements of accomplished police officers through both print and web version (www.theprotector.in) of the magazine.

I am sure they will continue with the good work, and with the same zeal and enthusiasm.

Best Wishes!

Satish Mathur

DGP – Maharashtra.
