The passing out parade of the 41st batch of police sub-inspector (civil) probationers from the Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) held at KPA premises was an event to remember. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy was the chief guest at the event that was webcast live from KPA. The batch had some well qualified candidates joining the police force including 56 B.E, one M.E. and two M.Tech degree holders. Among the 287 probationers, 50 were women. The probationers have undergone 47-week training both on the field and operations for 28 days.
Ten teams presented the guard of honor to the chief minister. The overall Parade Commander was Tippu Sultan Nayakwadi from Haveri District. Over 3,000 family members and relatives of the probationary officers were present to cheer the pass outs. Tipu Sultan Nayakwadi was judged– All round best probationer and G.Shruthi as the Best Lady Probationer.
Addressing the probationers, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy called upon the PSIs to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. “Help safeguard the health of the society and do not succumb to any political or financial pressure. Do not lobby for plum postings and be a role model in the society,” he said.
KPA Director Vipul Kumar administered the oaths to the probationers. Home Minister M.B.Patil, Director General & Inspector General of Police Neelamani N. Raju, DGP (Training) -Padam Kumar Garg, Dr. A.S. Subramanyeswara Rao, Commissioner of Police– Mysuru and various other prominent personalities graced the event.
Speaking to the state of Mysore, KPA Director Vipul Kumar said,” It was for the first time in the history of the KPA, that alive web-streaming was organized. The web-streaming was a success and henceforth, we will do it for every passing out parade. KPA has a dedicated website and it is also exploring technology. The trainees have undergone a wide variety of training so that it would be easy for them to face real-life situations. Apart from activities that include engaging in literary clubs, current affairs club, social service club, law club, sports & adventure club, culture & computer clubs and film & photography club, the trainees have had many practical exposures in dealing with natural disasters. At the flood-and-landslide-ravaged Kodagu the trainees participated in relief and rescue operations. At Malnad and Karkala they were trained in the operations of anti-naxal forces.”
