TCC: The Backbone of Trafc Department

Smooth  trafc  movements  in any city depict its liveliness and Kolkata despite  limited  roads and all other odds has established its vivacity. It has earned citation as the City of Joy and Kolkata Police has brought remarkable changes in trafc management. Trafc Control Room (TCR) of Kolkata Police at its headquarters Lalbazar is the central nervous system of traffic operation in the city. 

Meanwhile,  Traffic  Computer Cell (TCC) is  the  backbone  of Traffic Department which provides technical back up and updates information relating to Traffic department. Computerised database is very important for the smooth functioning of Traffic Department. Trafc Computer Cell was set up with the objective of computerisation for  day  today  operation of Traffic Department. This cell has number of high end servers for keeping various data of Traffic Department and Motor Vehicle Department.

Kolkata  Trafc  Police  has  its separate Website “kolkatatrafficpolice.gov.in”. This website of Kolkata Trafc Police is maintained by TCC. Besides, providing various trafc related regulations, accident information and trafc news, this website also facilitates people to deposit

nes for trafc rules violation. Trafc Computer Cell keeps data of trafc cases and ne on offending vehicles in Kolkata Police jurisdiction. Lok Adalat is being organised at regular interval by Trafc Department for the disposal of huge trafc cases, said Tridip Datta, the Ofcer in Charge. TCC provides all the technical support for organizing Lok Adalat. It prepares notices for Lok Adalat and informs stake holders. Trafc Computer Cell (TCC) also updates database on basis of disposal of cases in various courts as well as Lok Adalat.

TCC is responsible for extending technical and software support to all 25 Trafc Guards and other related section. It also keeps record of Pre-paid Taxi Booths at Sealdah and Kolkata Station Complex. This cell maintains liaison with GPO for serving Citation Notices to the owner of offending vehicles. No Case Pending Certicate is necessary for obtaining duplicate documents of any vehicle or any update in ownership details from Regional Transport Ofce (RTO). TCC issues such No Case Pending Certicate to the stakeholders. It is also entrusted for organizing some special events on trafc safety. Meanwhile, for a greener tomorrow, all the communication between Trafc Guards, Sections and Headquarters have been made paperless.
