Dear Friends,

Small is beautiful as it helps to organize things and take decisions without much problem. Sometimes many issues get complicated because of the varying opinions on sensitive matters which ultimately get delayed. But now is the time when things have to move fast and not delayed.

The state government’s decision to curve out a new district- Kalimpong from the hilly district of Darjeeling is an apt step to provide better service to the people of the mountainous region. This was state government’s second consecutive decision in North Bengal. Last year it had bifurcated neighouring Jalpaiguri district and created Alipurduar. Such decisions would actually go a long way in improving the life and security in the region and play an important role in economic upliftment of the people and open up new vista for the prospect of tourism industry in the hilly areas. New jobs would be created as hotel, transport and other related industries would expand their business.

Similarly the state government has also created a new district of Jhargram, which was earlier a bastion of the extremist elements in the backward Jungle Mahal area. Burdwan district has also been bifurcated into two districts – Purba Burdwan and Paschim Burdwan. Creation of the new district would pave the way for economic growth and would provide a fair deal to the people as the administration would come closer to them to a great extent.

The process of decentralization has always been benecial for all stakeholders. It becomes easier for the administration to have control overthe entire area easily within a short span of time and the people get theirwork done rather easily. Both the administration and the people comecloser which help in bridging the gap for implementation of the bothsafety and welfare-oriented programmes launched by the government.

The state police is very sincere about implementing its road safetyprogrammes to save the loss of precious lives. Police administration iscondent to reduce the accidents on road through various measures.Police is taking all possible steps to implement the ‘Safe drive Save life’programme with the active support from the people. ‘No helmet no petrol’is another important policy the state police is following would really helpreduce accidents on the road and save the valuable lives.

I am sure you will nd this issue interesting.

Happy Reading.
