The Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister, Ajit Pawar, in a meeting with senior police officials and others in Pune, announced that the State Government would extend all necessary cooperation to make Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate a quality police commissionerate.
On behalf of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar distributed ‘Health-365’ Smart Vital Belts and Sports Bicycles to the police under the jurisdiction of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. The village security guards were also provided with identity cards. Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash of Pimpri-Chinchwad also informed about the various initiatives implemented by his office to take care of the health of police personnel.
Maharashtra Police are known for their exemplary sacrifice and bravery. At the height of the pandemic, the police did a stellar job protecting the citizens by being on duty 24×7. They took the risk upon themselves. Their performance during this critical period will be etched in history. Appreciating the conscientiousness of the police during this period, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the police should stay healthy by maintaining a balanced diet, adequate sleep and regular exercise. The initiative of the Commissionerate of Police to provide smartwatches and sports bicycles to its personnel is commendable. It will improve the health of the police force and increase its capacity. At the same time, the image of the police will be more ‘smart’, he added.
The State Government is in the process of filling up vacancies in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and other police departments. Police personnel are provided quality accommodation, necessary vehicles and other facilities. Lack of funds for the construction of houses for the police will not be tolerated. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner’s Office will be assisted by the State Government to become a quality police commissionerate in the State, Pawar said, while addressing the occasion.
Necessary space, facilities, manpower, equipment will be provided to strengthen the Commissionerate. Apart from this, necessary help will also be provided to various police stations under the Commissionerate. However, the police should also create a sense of security in the minds of every citizen. They should work to develop trust in the minds of every citizen who comes to the police station. Citizens should come out of it in faith and be satisfied that their concerns are addressed. The police should create an environment where girls, women, any other citizen can live safely in any area.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said that “we have to do our duty to break the cycle of crime and maintain peace, law and order, and increase credibility in the minds of the people”.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Mayor Usha alias Mai Dhore, MLA Sunil Shelke, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash, Additional Commissioner of Police, Ramnath Pophale, and Chief Executive Officer – Goki Vishal Gondal – were present at the meeting with the Deputy Chief Minister.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Police will also have a dedicated, independent hospital as the State Government approved the recruitment for staff positions. It has directed the police leadership to look for space.
“The GR (Government Resolution) for creation of these hospital positions was issued in May 2018, but they were left vacant as there was no dedicated space yet for the hospital. The Government has now given the go-ahead to the Health Department to complete the recruitment and look for proper space for the hospital,” said Sudhir Hiremath, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police.
