Kudos to Kolkata police
There is a famous expression ‘When the going gets tough, the tough get going’– meaning when the situation becomes difficult, the strong will work harder to meet the challenge. The same can be said about Kolkata Police. When they are in a tough situation, they raise their benchmark so that even the difficult task becomes easy for them.
The 10-day Durga Puja in West Bengal is famous world over. It attracts not only tourists from other states of the country but connoisseurs from around the world. Managing the influx of tourists, maintaining law and order and coping with the traffic chaos, all at the same time, become the biggest challenge for the police but thanks to their efforts, they manage it with dexterity.
From the installation of idols to their immersion on ghats, Kolkata police maintain round-the-clock vigil so that everything goes as per the plan. From the control room to the policemen manning the streets, everybody remains alert so that nothing untoward happens. Managing millions on streets during the Puja festivities are not an easy task but the police like every year passed this year’s litmus test also with full marks. They go sleepless for nights to ensure that citizens have a sound sleep.
When people leave their homes to visit puja pandals, they have full faith in the police that their property will remain safe when they return home. This confidence in the police has made Kolkata one of the safest cities in the country.
Their community policing has also brought laurels for them. Like the ‘Tejaswani’ initiative for the empowerment of women. Many parents brought their children for the recent martial art training initiative of the police. Similarly, in the Sukanya Project, the Kolkata Police arranged workshops in different schools to give self-defence training to girl students.
Pronam is another noble scheme for elders that brings plaudits to the Kolkata Police.Though people may be living in any part of the world, they are confident that their parents are safe in the city, thanks to the Kolkata Police. And the glittering carnival gives the fitting finale to the 10-day long Puja extravaganza. With all the pomp and religious fervor when the entire show ends incident-free, it’s time for the police to sit and relax for the hard work they have done for the masses. The barrage of thanksgiving messages from the common masses and their seniors take away their exhaustion and fatigue. This is their reward. Kudos to Kolkata police.
