In a shocking incident, the Talasari police have successfully arrested the accused in the murder case of a 30-year-old woman who had been missing since November 2016.It was the alert sister-in-law of the accused who helped the police in solving the case. The arrested accused has been identified as Sadu Sukhad Khanzode and was the husband of the deceased.

According to the local cops, they had received a ‘missing’ complaint of a 30-year-old lady, a mother of three children from Dongripada village in Palghar district. In the course of investigations, it was found that the deceased and accused had married after a love affair. However, the married life of the couple was turbulent and not smooth.  It had gone brutally sour.

“The sister-in-law of the accused in her statement said that both the accused and the deceased used to fight on petty issues. Sadu Khanjhode always suspected that his wife Sangita was cheating on him, and even doubted the paternity of one of his kids,” said Keshav Naik, an inspector at Talasari police station.

During investigation, on February 1, the sister-in-law of the accused suspected something devious when she entered Sadu’s house. She alerted the neighbors and all of them got together. While conducting a search in his hut, they spotted a suspicious pit that was covered with cow dung.  The villagers informed Sadu and reported the matter to Talasari police station.

At the police station on questioning, Sadu broke down and confessed to having killed his wife after an argument about the paternity of their daughter. Sadu revealed, that on November 30, they had an argument again after which he lost control and strangulated his wife. He then buried her body in his hut with cow dung to mask the stench of decomposition.

“We have booked the accused under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code and he has been remanded to police custody for further procedure,” Naik added.
