Recently, a lady residing at Kasarvadavali had filed a complaint regarding her lost gold bangles worth Rs One Lakh while on her way to her workplace. Held within 72 hours

In another incident, Kasarwadavli Police Station received a complaint from Sadanand Bhaskar (64), a resident of Anand Nagar, Godbunder Road, Thane, that he was looted by an unknown person of Rs. 19,000 while withdrawing money from the Corporate Bank ATM. A case under Section 420 (Cheating and Dishonesty) of the India Penal Code was registered at Kasarwadavli Police Station.

According to the police, after receiving the complaint, Senior Police Inspector Kishor Khairnar alerted their sources about it. ASI Sagar Jadhav received a tip-off from his confidential source about the accused arriving at Mumbra Railway Station. The police laid a trap and arrested the accused identified as Shauzan Rehman (24), Gyasuddin Siddiqui (26); both residents of Mumbra, Mumbai.

“Cases of looting senior citizens are increasing. Thus, after receiving a complaint, a team of officers look into the matter with utmost seriousness and urgency. We start looking for history-sheeters who had conducted such crimes in the past and who are currently on bail,” said Khairnar. He also added, “Acting on the information provided by one of our sources, we laid a trap and nabbed the accused. We have also seized two Oppo Reno company mobile phones, a One plus mobile phone worth Rs 47,500, cash and other belongings worth Rs 1,04,700 from the accused.”

The arrested accused had eight cases registered against them at Kurla, Kalyan and Bhiwandi Police Stations. The accused confessed that they have looted senior citizens at several places like Mumbra, Thane, Mumbai, Pune, Karnataka, etc. They were presented before the court and have been remanded in police custody for further investigation.

Speaking to the Mumbai Protector, Kishor Khairnar said, “I have zero tolerance for crime and criminals. Policing has never been just a job for me. It is my passion to assist the local citizens as well as my colleagues. It is not a routine 9 to 6 job. A policeman should be devoted to his work and that alone will give satisfaction. Crimes like chain snatching and vehicle theft may appear trivial but can be very traumatizing for the victims. Tackling street crime is very important because it affects the common man the most, and the image of the police is also at stake if we do not do our part well. People will lose confidence in us. Our station has set a good record in detecting such cases, and we are determined to keep crime under control.”
