Security concern is one of the top most priorities of the State Police Department. The Maharashtra Police have tightened their belt and order their police officers to probe into any suspicious activity taking place under their jurisdiction. While probing one such incident, Palghar Police successfully arrested four accused and seized weapons and narcotic elements worth Rs 13.6 crore.
According to the police, on August 29, 2019, Manor Police received a tip-off about a group of people meeting at Hindustan Dhaba near Vasai, for exchange of weapons and drugs. Acting on the tip, the team headed by Senior Police Inspector – Pratap Darade, informed his senior, laid a trap, and arrested the accused. “Around 5.55 pm, we laid a trap and arrested the accused from the spot. When checked, we found weapons like AK-47, desi pistol, mobile phones and drugs of different categories from them,” said Inspector Pratap. The accused are remanded to police custody till further investigation.
“We have seized four desi pistol and revolvers, 63 live bullets, three AK-47 rifles which are been banned by the Indian government, Ephedrine weighing 8 kg 900 grams, DMT drugs weighing 8 kg 500 grams, brown sugar – 500 grams, Desomorphine – 3 kg 900 grams, and cash and mobile phones. The estimated amount of the mentioned weapons and drugs are approximately Rs. 13,60,99,900,” said Superintendent of Police – Palghar, Gaurav Singh.
The arrested accused have been booked under Section 8 (C) 21, 22, 25(a) NDPA Act, Section 3,5,7(C), 25 (K), 27 Arms Act, Section 37(1), 135 of State Police Act 1951. Further investigation of the case is undertaken by the Palghar Crime branch under the supervision of Police inspector, Jetendra Wankote.
