While the State Police is tackling the coronavirus effectively, the Pune Police is also dealing with the global pandemic as well as the local viruses misusing the current situation.

The increasing number of corona patients in Maharashtra has been a topic of concern for the State governing bodies. While the government is providing the basic, necessary requirements to the local citizens, the State Police is tackling the situation in a different yet creative way. Apart from punishing people for breaking rules, the Pune Police has decided to spread to convey their message through social media.

Recently, the Pune Police posted a meme inspired by the film ‘Ghajini’ to urge citizens to wear face masks amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The official handle of the Pune Police took to Twitter to share a still from the film featuring its lead actor, Aamir Khan. To recall, Khan’s character suffered from short-term memory loss in the film. Hence, he used to tattoo important things on his body to not forget them. The Pune Police put a translucent banner on his torso and wrote an important message, “Forget everything, but don’t forget to wear a mask.” Aamir Khan can also be seen wearing a mask in the image shared by the Police Department.

“Wear a mask. Practice social distancing. Wash hands frequently. You don’t need to cover your entire body with tattoos for that, do you? #OnGuardAgainstCorona,” the Pune Police wrote in the caption.

We have seen how the Mumbai Police Twitter account spread awareness about this pandemic. The Pune Police have followed their footsteps and are urging people to stay at their homes and help them to fight the coronavirus more effectively.

In yet another tweet, a man from Pune asked the police on Twitter what would happen if he goes out during the lockdown. Pune Police’s reply to the man’s question is attracting a lot of reactions on the microblogging platform. Pune Police savagely commented on the post, “What if we lock you in jail? What if we lock someone in jail without them indulging in any wrongdoing? Then how is it okay to go outside without any purpose?”

“We are trying to spread awareness among the citizens through our social media platform. Most of the people out there are using social media. Thus, it has become easy to convey the message to a larger number of people,” said a police officer attached to the Pune Police.

Citizen Talk

“I have been following the Pune Police on all social media platforms. Their Twitter account has entertaining tweets. They are also quick to reply to posts. The Pune Police, over time, has been improvising itself. All the best, Pune Police,” said Sushant Patil, a Pune resident.

“The number of COVID-19 cases in the city is increasing. Thus, one should understand the situation and support the governing bodies in doing their duties. The Pune Police is doing a commendable job in providing security; their social media account is providing vital information through their witty tweets. I support the Pune Police in fighting this pandemic,” said Divya Panchan, an employee at an IT firm.

The reply by the Pune Police has garnered more than 7,000 likes so far with over 240 retweets. Netizens on Twitter were impressed by the Pune Police’s on-point answer as one user commented, “Hitting the nail on the head.”
